Title

"ANOTHER QUADRUPLE MURDER; AX WIELDER BUSY IN CROWLEY"

Subject

Crowley, La., Jan. 10 - A ghastly crime was unearthed here to-day when the mangled body of Marie Warner, a colored woman, and her three children were discovered in a hut in the western part of town. They had been slain with an ax and the bloody instrument was left in the house and is the only evidence of how they came to their death, that has so far been discovered. It is supposed the murder was committed last night. The crime was discovered shortly after noon to-day when Harriet Crane, mother of the murdered woman, called at the home. She was at first afraid to enter and called a colored man to go in for her. The four victims were found lying on a bed side-by-side, where they had evidently been placed after being brained. The woman was about 30 years old and for the past four years had been separated from her husband, who is living in Beaumont. The children are two girls, Pearl, aged 9, and Harriet, aged 5, and a boy, Garry, aged 7.
The coroner's jury is in session making an investigation of the murder and the police and sheriff's force are working on the case, but as far have found no clew.
This is the second murder of this kind that has been committed in this city within the past year, and the fourth in this section. Lafayette having been the scene of the other two.
