Subject

S. Guidry, a negro, has been arrested by Sheriff Fontenot on the charge of murdering a negro woman and her three children with an ax at Rayne in September 1900. A similar wholesale murder was committed at Crowley a few months ago and another at Lafayette recently. All three of the murders were committed with an ax. In the Crowley case three were killed and in the Lafayette killing five persons here brained with an ax.
