Title

"BRUNER TAKES OFFICE"

Subject

Crowley Signal, Feb. 6.
Howard E. Bruner, the newly appointed district attorney for this, the eighteenth judicial district, took oath of office today and is now in full charge of the office. The retiring district attorney J.J. Robira was here from Lafayette and turned over the papers and other paraphernalia of the office to his successor. To a representative of The Signal this afternoon Mr. Bruner said :
"In taking charge of the office of District Attorney, I am not unmindful of the important duties and great responsibilities that devolve upon me. In the discharge of these duties, I shall be influenced by no great determination to convict the guilty than to protect the innocent.,
"I have, I believe, the confidence of all the officers of this district. This confidence I shall try to justify. With the assistance and co-operation of the officers and law abiding citizens I feel confident that crime and lawfulness will be reduced to a minimum and the law abiding shall feel secure in the knowledge that violators of the law shall not go unwhipped of justice."
